Welcome to the Art of Whimsy! I have put together this website to showcase the varied types of art that I dabble in. I am a Minnesota based artist that has been making art since the day I hatched. My grandmother is a quilter, my mother is a stained glass artist, and my best friends are a delightfully quirky mix of different types of artists. Whimsy is the name of my gnome persona, which is the character that I portray at renaissance festivals and art fairs. Her fun colorful nature is something that I try to capture in all of my pieces.
I refer to myself as a humming bird artist, meaning that I don't stay in one medium for an extended time, but rather dip into one for a short bit and then find something new I love and then go back to old favorites, rinse and repeat. My favorite medium that I always have a project going on in, is found object assemblages. My mother frequently quoted the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure" and this was always something that resonated with me, I think it is probably the reason I can't resist picking up the broken bits of goodies that I find in the gutters and on the sidewalk.
Most recently me and my best friend were the featured artists at the Dickinson State University Art Gallery where I showcased my found object shrines and mixed fiber art weavings. I also have had some work displayed at several venues in the US including various galleries and fine art shows. So please feel free to take a gander at my work and if you have any questions or comments send them to [email protected]
